What we make
Every job is cut and whipped by hand-guided machine, with the yarn matched to your carpet or picked as a contrast.
Stair runners
Whipped or bound edges on stair runners, in almost any colour. For a standard runner we only whip the two long sides.
Stair pads
Individual stair pads whipped all the way round for a neat, tailored finish on each tread.
Rug resizing
Moved house or can't find the right size? We can cut down and re-edge almost any rug, new or old.
Caravan and motorhome carpets
Removable, edged carpets for caravans, camper vans and motorhomes. Warmer in winter, easy to lift and clean.
Non-slip rugger
Stops mats creeping and rucking on carpet, laminate, vinyl and tiles. Cut to your mat with a 1 inch gap all round.

Why whip your carpet offcuts?
When you have new carpet fitted there is nearly always a good-sized offcut left over. Whipping the edges turns it into a mat or runner that matches your new floor exactly, for a fraction of the cost of buying one.
The stitch locks the cut edge so it will not fray, curl or shed, and gives a soft, tailored finish that looks like a shop-bought rug. It is the same finish used on quality stair runners and bespoke rugs.

What is carpet whipping?
Carpet whipping is a finishing stitch sewn tightly around the cut edge of a carpet with a special machine. It stops the edge fraying and gives an offcut a neat, professional finish so it can be used as a mat, runner or rug.
How much does carpet whipping cost?
Whipping is £4.75 per linear metre, with a minimum order of £20. Cutting or straightening is £1.75 per metre, internal corners £3.75 each and non-slip rugger £8.00 per metre. Use our online quote calculator for an instant estimate.
How do I measure for carpet whipping?
Measure every edge that needs whipping and add them together. A 3m x 1m mat whipped all round is 3 + 1 + 3 + 1 = 8 linear metres. For a standard stair runner measure the two long sides only.
How long does it take?
Turnaround is normally 7 to 14 days from when your carpet arrives at a drop-off point.
Where can I drop off my carpet?
We have drop-off and collection points in Worthing (two locations), Portslade for Brighton and Hove, and Bognor Regis for Chichester. Attach a note with your name, phone number and requirements and the shop will let us know it has arrived.

What colours of whipping yarn do you have?
We carry a wide range of yarn colours and will always find a good match for your carpet. You can also ask for a contrasting colour for a stand-out edge.
